Time for a Change

I decided it was time for another change. . .that is to my blog template. I am trying to simplify things in my life and thought my blog needed a change also. It seems that everything is so complicated today; therefore I am shooting for clear, clean and simple. I have found the older I get the less I want and need. So my new motto atleast for the time being is "Less is More!"

I also added links to some of my favorite blogs. It is like a morning and sometimes evening ritual for me now that I am addicted to blogs. I log on, check my email then it is off to visit my favorite blogs. I think of it as picking up the telephone or visiting with my neighbor over the fence, you know just to see how things are going with them.

Until next time....Create and have Fun!

Senior Year

My middle son, Seth officially started his senior year activities today. We had pictures made. I just stood back smiling as they snapped numerous photos of him in his jeans and then khakis. He looked so handsome in the tux and then came the cap and gown. It seems just like yesterday that he graduated from 4 yr old pre-school in his little blue cap & gown. That little guy is now 6' & 225 lbs!!! I couldn't believe he actually wanted mom to go with him. I really wanted too but was not about to suggest it.

There were approximately 15 kids there while we were there and only 2 moms, and Seth was the only one with a class ring. I remember everyone in my class had their rings when we started our senior year. I also only had 28 in my class and he has over 225, guess that does make a difference.

We want him to have a fun and memorable year as he has earned it.

Until next time. . . Create and have fun!

True Friends

These hanging collages were created for three very special friends I have met online. The quote is one of my favorites.

Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart. ~Eleanor Roosevelt

"Believe In Yourself" for Stephanie

"Post Card Friends" for Deb

"Hydrangea Friends" for Dori

It was such an honor to create each of these original collages for these girls. Each collage is on a canvas board, created using basic grey papers, vintage photo printed on antique notepaper, and a Friends quote. The backs are covered in antique sheet music and I wrote a personal Thank You on each. Ready to hang with copper wire and hand dyed ribbons.

Until next time...create and have fun!!!

Glitter, Ribbons & Trims

As some of you know I have been wanting to add color and whimsy to my artwork. I am so excited about some things taking place. Soon you will be seeing Debbie Overton Designs with a touch of sparkle and lots of vintage trims.

Some people call it chance some karma, but I call her a gift from heaven. Recently I was introduced to the most wonderful artist and she understands what I want and she is so graciously taken me by the hand and helping me reach my dreams. She is giving me advice and suggestions to get my work out there. I can't even count my lucky stars there are so many since meeting this whimsical, magical and cute as a button artist. When the time is right I will share my gift, but for now she is my little secret.

Until next time. . . create and have fun!

No excuse

I have no excuse for not posting in over 2 weeks except that I have been lost in my artwork, spring cleaning even though it is summer and just busy with the kids. The summer has gotten away from us and in a little over 4 weeks my kids start back to school. Seth will be a senior and Kaycee a junior. We received a notice in the mail yesterday that senior pictures are to be made on the 28th and it finally hit me another baby is almost ready to leave home.

I have been working on a few new pieces including new card designs. I just need to find time now to update my website with some of my latest creations. Maybe if I play my cards right, I can talk Steve into doing the update while I create more new art. Wonder what it will take????

It is almost 9:30 and the kids are starting to move around as if they might actually be ready to help me get a few things done, so I better make the most of it.

Until next time, create and have FUN!!!!
